Arden regenerative care bay
A closed care environment for recovery from severe trauma, burns and major surgery, under continuous automated monitoring and clinical control.
Arden supports patients through the most dangerous days after severe trauma, burns or major surgery. It combines a closed patient environment with automated monitoring of 46 physiological measures and a tissue-support system that adjusts temperature, humidity, oxygenation and wound perfusion continuously.
Arden restores patients to their prior condition and is designed to do nothing else. Its treatment protocols are fixed at manufacture and approved by the regulator in each market. The clinical team responsible for the patient can override any automated setting from the bedside or the nursing station, and every override is logged.
Clinical evidence
Since its introduction in 2021, Arden has supported more than 38,000 admissions in 186 hospitals. In a multicentre study of 1,184 patients published in 2026, patients treated in Arden bays after major burns spent a median of 4.6 fewer days in intensive care than a matched control group, with no difference in serious adverse events.
How hospitals use Arden
Most hospitals install Arden bays in groups of two to six within an existing burns or trauma unit, rather than as a separate ward, so that patients stay with the team that admitted them. The bay replaces the bed, the warming system and much of the monitoring at the bedside, and connects to the hospital’s own patient record and central monitoring.
Patients typically spend three to twenty-one days in an Arden bay before moving to a standard bed. Relatives can sit beside the bay and speak to the patient through the canopy, which opens fully in four seconds for clinical care.
Training and service
Every Arden installation includes four weeks of on-site training for nursing and medical staff, led by our clinical applications team, most of whom are former critical-care nurses. Bays are serviced from 57 service centers, with engineers on site within four hours in most markets and a replacement bay within 48 hours if one is needed.

Buying Arden
Arden is sold to hospitals directly by Medical Systems, usually as part of a five- to ten-year agreement that covers installation, training, service and software updates. Lead time from order to first patient is typically sixteen weeks, most of it taken by building work in the unit. Hospitals considering Arden can visit a reference site in their own country.
Arden is distinct from the regeneration bays installed at Citadel Station in 2019, which were supplied under a separate contract and have never been sold to hospitals.
